RETHINKING "RESPONSIBLE SPAY/NEUTER"

NEW RESEARCH
LONGEVITY
HEALTH
ANTI-AGING

If you have spayed or neutered your pet, the balance of the internal "machine"is permanently altered, el
iminating an integral part of the smooth functioning of the entire system. Other components will take over to do the work of what is now missing but this in turn over stresses organs by requiring them to do extra work they were not designed to do. Extra stress on the body and adrenal glands cause accelerated aging, many diseases and other short and long term health concerns.

Read this! Irish DVM Dr. Conor Brady. Most updated science to regain your power and protect your pet and help ensure a healthy long life.

"We are creating health problems....non-existent or significantly less prevalent in intact pets", Dr. Jack Oliver, head of Adrenal Lab, Univ. of Tennessee. Now scientifically supported, spaying and neutering is creating disease and shortening the lives and vibrancy of our companion animals. Be part of the change, spread the word. #responsiblespayneuter #rethinkspayneuter #spay #neuter

WHY IS THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM SO CRITICAL?
Reproduction is only 1 spoke in a interconnected system. Only western medicine sees the body in unrelated compartments. KEY SCIENTIFIC FACT: When reproductive organs are removed, adrenal glands are forced to take over their job, forcing the adrenals to be overworked for the rest of the life of the animal. The endocrine system is a network of glands that secrete hormones to regulate many bodily functions, including growth and metabolism. These hormones control many processes:
  1. Growth and development
  2. Homeostasis: internal balance of all systems
  3. Metabolism: energy levels
  4. Reproduction
  5. Response to stimuli: stress and/or injury

NEW STUDIES SHOW
RISKS ABUNDANT

DOCUMENTED DISEASES
  • Adrenals: typical Cushing’s & Addisons
  • Obesity (due to overload on adrenals)
  • Cardiac: tumors, function
  • Hypothyroidism: triples the risk
  • Thyroid tumors
  • CANCER: bone, lymphoma, mast cell, sarcomas, hemangiosarcoma, more
  • Abnormal bone growth and development
  • Joint Disorders: Tripled Risk
  • CCL ruptures
  • Hip dysplasia
  • Benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) enlarged prostate
  • Pyometra, a uterine disease
  • Other Breed-specific effects
  • Urinary incontinence in female dogs
  • Increased UTIs and vaginitis, vaginal dermatitis
  • Urethral sphincter incontinence in males
  • Cognitive Impairment and Dysfunction
  • Neurological Behavior
  • Arthritis
  • Higher incidence of vaccine adverse reactions
  • Weakened Immune System
  • Increased susceptibility: All Infectious Diseases

BONES-JOINTS-LIGAMENTS
Abnormal Growth and Development
KEY SCIENTIFIC FACT: Sterilization at an early age delays closure of bony growth plates resulting in an abnormal, “weedy” skeletal development that increases the incidence of orthopedic problems like hip dysplasia, cruciate ligament tears, patellar luxation and arthritis. Breeders: Working and performance dogs, if neutered before maturity, risk the inability to perform at optimal levels. Dogs neutered before puberty tend to have longer legs, flatter chests, and narrower skulls because the hormones that regulate sexual activity also interact with hormones that guide growth of muscles, bones, and tendons.

NEUROLOGICAL IMPAIRMENT
The sex hormones, especially testosterone and oestrogen, play a major part in giving dogs an element of calmness, confidence, and well-being. American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation reports significantly more behavioural problems in spayed and neutered dogs, Intensive study and research of over 7,500 dogs: in almost every case neutered dogs were the more reactive, moody and aggressive. The very opposite of what we are told is the normal outcome.
  • general fearfulness
  • fear of storms
  • separation anxiety
  • fear of noises
  • timidity
  • excitability
  • aggression
  • hyperactivity
  • fear biting.
  • aggressive
  • fearful
  • excitable
  • less trainable than intact dogs
  • long term: cognitive dysfunction in older dogs

CANCER INCREASE RISK (Studies)
  • Osteosarcoma: (F) "Significant increase", (M) 3.8x
  • Cardiac Hemangiosarcoma (M) 1.6x, (F) 5x the risk
  • Prostate: Quadruples the risk
  • UTI Cancer/Tumors: M & F doubles risk
  • Splenic Hemangiosarcoma: More than doubles risk

SUMMARY
The Endocrine System is a complex messaging system regulating the heart, adrenals, thyroid, bone/joint formation, hypothalamus, thymus, gut, brain/emotions and more through the production of hormones. To think the only hormones the body produces are the sex hormones is to discount the intricate inner workings of the full system through out the intricate inner workings of the whole body. Putting a wrench in the endocrine system not only affects growth and development of younger dogs but accelerates what we label as "aging". What if a large part of aging was simply the accumulation of a slow malfunction of the body due to damage to the endocrine system via spay/neuter practices?

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS
First Choice: Leave in tact for Optimal Function
Studies support waiting as long as possible to lifetime.
Second Choice: Sterilize Without De-Sexing
Holistic vets originally recommended waiting at least two years while the body is growing. Then remove just the uterus or a vasectomy for males. As the ovaries or testicles remain intact, theoretically nothing should interfere with hormone production.
  • Ovary-Sparing "Modified Spay": Less invasive, shorter time under anesthesia, removes uterus not ovaries.
  • Vasectomy

PYOMETRIA: FEAR Induced?

I've yet to meet a Vet, allopathic or holistic that doesn't instill immediate unmitigated fear of Pyometria. Isn't FEAR lack of knowledge and therefore, power? How about understanding how it happens and how to prevent it? Why push an expensive, risky spay surgery as the only option, one that slowly degrades long term health on every level? I've been researching around the world trying to summarize good, useful science and tools for that very logical question. *To Be Updated Soon with details, whys and how's*
SUMMARY
Pyometria is a uterine infection (stasis + bacteria) often originating from fecal matter. Sources say it is "caused by a mucus buildup inside the uterus, an infection or a hormonal imbalance". So let's prevent it! Another concern is a weak uterus that can not expel any infective agents, herbs below also help strengthen that system, balance hormones and keep bacteria at bay.

HERBS:
Lady's Mantle: strengthens uterus, anti- inflammatory/alleviates pain, anti bacterial, viral and fungal, eases blood flow
Red Raspberry Leaf: tones pelvic muscles, eases menstrual pain
Yarrow: anti-inflammatory, normalizes blood circulation, addresses uterine congestion/stasis
Dandelion:
Shepard's Purse:
maybe Red Clover .
TCM Chinese Herbs: Free & Easy Wanderer
WIPES: keep back end sanitary
SUPPLEMENTS:
Vitamin C: Frequent, High dosage (to tolerance)
D-Mannose works on same principle as in countless studies proven to alleviate UTIs. Inhibits e-coli bacteria from adhering to internal walls, forcing it to be flushed out. Instead of growing and creating an infection leading to ....Pyometria! Study: http://www.equinescienceupdate.co.uk/mannos.htm

BE THE CHANGE
RESPONSIBLE PET OWNERSHIP
We can work towards redefining an old wives tale not based in science just by spreading the word. Be part of the change to protect the health and well being of all companion animals. Leaving the body as it was designed to function at optimal levels will work towards eventually see a doubling of the national average for a dog's lifespan. It's a small adjustment for the huge rewards to be realized. You are a pebble in the water, you can make a big difference.

The Aging Process
At a microscopic level aging represents the slowing down of cellular processes, a clogging of some of the pathways of normal metabolism, maintenance, and repair. The body is inherently designed to be self-maintaining and self-repairing, and in this way it’s supposed to last us a lifetime. Disease occurs when one or more of those processes is overwhelmed, defective or interfered with in some way (spay/neuter).

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Anyone who has been through Menopause, personally or near someone who has, should understand the implication of how many systems it controls. Really, when our hormones slow down, it is our body going into a state of ACCELERATED AGING in every cell, organ, DNA ..every telomere. Why would we do that to our puppies?

ALREADY SPAYED-NEUTERED?
It will be important to support a compromised system but HOW? The field and study of anti-aging for dogs is a new one. We need to keep in mind that our current veterinary philosophy is founded on population and disease control through prescription drugs, surgery and symptom management. If you are looking for more than that, switch to a Holistic Veterinary Clinic that supports health, healing and longevity. For a dog who is not in tact, start a supportive supplement program with a holistic Veterninarian.

A GOOD PLACE TO START

A combination of:
  • Organ Support (Suggestions/Examples)
  1. Standard Process: Female, Male
  2. Male/Female: Multi-Gland Support
  3. Fresh raw organ meat in food
  • Power of Real Food Nutrient Dense Diet including Variety of Organ Meats aka. Offal
  • Adaptogens (botanical)
  • Chinese Herbs
  • Antioxidants (stop the body from "rusting")
  • 🌟 Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), Biochemistry
IF NOTHING ELSE ADD WHOLE FOOD VITAMIN C WITH EACH MEAL
(not synthetic)
C is involved in 300 different functions of the biochemistry in animals and humans. An important job is the production of collagen, used to build muscle and bone tissue. Collagen forms the honeycomb structures holding minerals in place within the bones. Without sufficient Vitamin C, the quality of the manufactured collagen will be weak, thus causing the bones and muscle tissues to weaken. A second function of vitamin C is to cope with the effects of stress on animal physiology, supporting adrenal gland function and helping the body produce its own cortisone, which limits the production of histamines produced by dying cells. WHAT CAN I DO: SUMMARY
STEP ONE IS ALWAYS TO FIND A HOLISTIC VET WHO CAN DESIGN A PERSONALIZED PROGRAM FOR YOUR PET with life enhancing, endocrine balancing choices. Your only other option is the old school thinking of using prescription drugs to mask symptoms from imbalance and malfunction of these compromised systems which in turn add a multitude of other health issues down the line. Then emptying your bank account to the smiling vets as tell you pharmaceutical drugs will stop the cascade of diseases they call "normal" for "aging" dogs. It is for us to determine if the antiquated non-scientific spay-neuter advice is worth continuing to swallow at the expense of the pets we love. Or is time for us to stand up and fight for a new age of health and longevity for all companion animals?

Review an old way of thinking: we've all been obediently and blindly trusting pharmaceutical thinkers with roots in the old-style battle-field slash-and- burn of what we know as Modern Medicine. Be challenged to educate yourself to incorporate other powerful yet gentler healing options. Understand what they are really recommending, what the healthy options are, how your body and your pet’s bodies actually work and why. Everything else will be intuitive. And when it comes down to a decision a  vet or doctor pushes you to make against your new and better judgement, remember this: It is your job to protect their bodies, not anyone’s feelings – white coat or otherwise.

” The main reason for the failure of the modern medical science is that it is dealing with results and not causes. Nothing more than the patching up of those attacked and the burying of those who are slain, without a thought being given to the real strong hold.”  –Edward Bach

VACCINES & MEDICATIONS

Vaccines create a weak, vulnerable immune system and are responsible for a vast array of health problems. There is less study and research than we are led to believe.

DID YOU KNOW?
NOT ONE STUDY HAS BEEN DONE TO SUPPORT THE USE OF "BOOSTERS"!

DID YOU KNOW?
Prescription Medications attempt to alleviate a symptom, they do not "cure" the underlying cause, disease or health concern.
An average of 70 side effects are associated with one medication.

DETOX - REBUILD

Toxins weaken the immune system, allowing disease to set in. Overloaded with toxins, the body will store them, this in turn creates disease. It is very beneficial to clean out toxins in the body at least twice/year (more often when dealing with disease) to rid the body of the toxins and keep the system in balance. What is Cell Regeneration? When disease takes over parts of the body it can destroy the cells. Tumors destroy cells. Cell regeneration is restoring cells to their original health.
